Millions of women around the world suffer from acne, occasional breakouts and other embarrassing and demeaning skin infections.
If left untreated for quite a long time, the aforementioned infections can spread to other areas of your skin and leave permanent spots and scars.
Moreover, the pain of battling acne is not just physical, but also psychological. In fact, evidence shows that women who experience constant acne exhibit low self-esteem.
Fortunately, acne is treatable, and you don’t have to spend your hard-earned money on expensive treatments that don’t give the results you want.
Unless you’re suffering from severe acne, which requires a physician’s attention, you can get rid of acne fast using natural home remedies.
Here is a list of ten natural remedies that you can easily find in your kitchen: If you can introduce these natural ingredients in your skincare routine, you’ll be able to prevent and treat acne fast. As I really like using drugstore bought face masks, I included some DIY masks recipes that your skin will love.
Honey and Cinnamon
All you need to do is wash your face with clean water and pat dry with a fresh towel.
Next, mix three tablespoons of honey and one tablespoon of cinnamon. Blend the two ingredients together and microwave for approximately 30 seconds.
Mask your face with the resultant paste, or apply it to the affected spot. Wait for 10-15 minutes, rinse off completely and pat your face dry using a clean towel (paper towels can be more helpful with the sticky honey).
Remember, this treatment can take quite some time to show results. Use it for at least five weeks.
Egg Whites
Egg whites (separated from yolk) are perfect for tightening enlarged pores and healing acne scars, so naturally, they’re an excellent remedy for acne.
They contain lots of proteins and vitamins, a superb combo when you’re looking to restore your damaged skin cells. Additionally, egg whites absorb excess oil which provides a favorable environment for acne-causing bacteria.
Beat 2-3 egg whites to a froth in a bowl. Wash your face with clean water and pat dry with a clean towel. Apply the egg white paste on your face, focusing mostly on the spots. 3-4 layers will do. After about 20-30 minutes, rinse with warm water and pat your face dry.
When you spread egg whites onto your face and leave it to dry for some time, it unclogs pores and sucks excess oil, which is fine. But, beware, it might leave your skin extremely dehydrated, especially if you have dry, acne-prone skin. Use a moisturizer to help hydrate the skin after removing the mask.
You can use this treatment for about two weeks to achieve the results you want.
Orange Peel Paste
You may be surprised to discover that orange peel paste can actually transform your skin in various ways, but it’s true. Packed with vitamin C, Calcium and dietary fiber, orange peel paste battles radicals that destroy functioning skin cells, repair worn out cells and deliver long-lasting hydration.
As a source of pectin, orange peel paste also enhances cell activity for an improved and rejuvenated complexion.
To get the best out of an orange peel paste, grind or pound 2 orange peels while adding a little water until it’s pasty. Wash your face with clean, warm water and pat dry. Apply the paste on your face, especially areas with acne. Let the mask rest for 20-25 minutes. Rinse with clean, cool water and pat dry.
Use the same mask for about three weeks, and your skin will look polished and luminous.
Strawberries and Honey
Did you know that using skin care products that are not tailored to your skin type can flare up acne?
Two of the organic and homemade remedies you can use when experiencing acne flair ups are strawberries and honey.
This combination offers several benefits including cleaning out pores, help get rid of blackouts without over drying the skin, eliminate dead skin cells, dirt, and toxins and lock in necessary moisture to keep the skin soothed and hydrated.
To make a mask of strawberry and honey, mash three fresh strawberries until pasty, and add two teaspoons of organic honey. Wash your face with clean warm water and apply the paste on your face. Let it rest for 20 minutes then rinse.
Use this mask for a week, and you’ll notice a huge difference in your skin quality.
Banana Peel
Don’t waste your banana peels. They contain one of the potent antioxidants you can ever imagine – lutein.
Lutein reduces swelling and inflammation. It also facilitates the healthy growth of cells and prevents acne by sipping excess oil produced by the sebaceous glands.
Several methods on how to use a banana peel to reduce acne exists. But the simplest can be just to rub the banana peel on your face, in a circular motion. You first, however, need to wash your face with cool water and mild soap to remove dirt and impurities. Wait for about 30 minutes before rinsing your face.
If you repeat the same procedure every day for at least two weeks, you’ll experience a visible transformation on your skin.
Sodium Bicarbonate/Baking Powder
Sodium bicarbonate, when used the right way, can help treat acne and reduce breakouts. However, it’s not meant for every skin type, so if you feel uncomfortable after use, try other homemade remedies.
Sodium bicarbonate has mild antiseptic properties, but it’s powerful enough to destroy acne-causing bacteria and fungus. It also dries up sebum. More importantly, it has excellent microdermabrasion abilities, therefore, can make the skin soft and hydrated.
To make sodium bicarbonate mask, mix about 30 grams of baking powder with warm water in a bowl to make a paste. Massage your face with the paste in a circular motion for about 2 minutes. Rinse off with warm water after 20 minutes.
Repeat the same process about once a week, and you’ll start experiencing a more refined and rejuvenated skin.
Natural home remedies can be quick and safe ways to get rid of acne or at least keep it at bay. They give you time to figure out what causes acne on your skin, and the best way to treat it.
Several home acne remedies are available. Some might work well for your skin, while some might exacerbate the condition. Thus, find out what works for you and make maximum use of it.
Remember, you don’t have to rush anything because there is actually no proven quick way to treat acne. So, if your preferred home remedy for treating acne like the ones I shared above isn’t causing any discomfort, be patient, stick to your routine, and you’ll reap the benefits.
